the long story short

The long story short

Organising meetings, events and publicising the great work that local businesses are doing, Marketing Humber needed a site to attract investment in the decarbonisation projects around the region and were looking for an innovative way to engage students on their journey to net zero.

We combined real time 3D and gamification to produce communications that created a memorable impact.

Marketing Humber

The Brief

Marketing Humber were keen to promote the exciting decarbonisation investment opportunities that the Humber region had to offer. Initially they approached us to create a printed investment prospectus PDF.

We challenged their thinking and wanted to create them a digital platform that would be easier to update in the future and would better reflect the innovation in the region.

To compliment the site and engage students in the area, Marketing Humber also wanted a game that could be rolled out at the annual Waterline Summit. The game needed to be engaging and fun, whilst educating students about their impact on the environment.

The Solution

Marketing Humber embraced the challenge to do digital. The website design was created to reflect an abstract view of the Humber, with oversized landmarks and investment opportunities popping from a real time 3D globe.

MyTopia

Using the unique styling of the globe, we created the MyTopia game. The retro-style of the MyTopia Green City Builder game is being used to help demonstrate how the choices people make impact upon their immediate and wider surroundings. Simple questions and a reactive interface combine to create a fun, competitive and educational tool.

The Outcome

Originally launched in 2020, the MyTopia game was such a success, it has been further developed in 2021. The latest version of the game will be used again to target the new group of students at the Waterline Summit. Invest Humber is an ongoing resource, showcasing the key net zero opportunities and educating investors about the benefits of the Humber region.

MyTopia highlights, in an enjoyable way, how our everyday decisions impact on the environment and how we can all play our part by making changes in our lives.
